APM Terminals Opens Hong Kong Office
APM Terminals said opening an office in Hong Kong will help A.P. Moller-Maersk’s port operating unit to expand partnerships with Asia-based customers when making global decisions on port calls and inland routings."We want to be more of a resource partner with intelligent solutions rather than just a vendor. So we’ve beefed up our client teams with people who have held senior positions in the liner and logistics business," said Martin Gaard Christiansen, Chief Commercial Officer of APM Terminals.Thirteen of APM Terminals 20 largest customers are based in Asia, said Christiansen, a former CEO of APM Terminals in the Asia Pacific region.The new office will serve customers in Hong Kong, mainland China, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.APM Terminals plans to invest $3 billion in 2012 after committing more than $3 billion to infrastructure development and expansion of its facilities in 2011.
