New rail connection with Munich

European Gateway Services, the ECT subsidiary, and TX Logistik this week launched a second service to southern Germany. After Nuremberg, they will now also serve Munich. From Rotterdam, there will be three trains a week to the southern German city.
The new rail connection calls at the Maasvlakte and the Waalhaven/Eemhaven in Rotterdam and is suitable for both maritime and continental cargo. The cargo is handled in southern Germany at the DUSS Terminal Munich-Riem.
Advantages
ECT hopes that the service will strengthen its position in the hinterland. 'It will provide shipping companies, logistics service providers and shippers with an increasingly better alternative to the northern German ports.
An important advantage of transporting cargo via Rotterdam is the time saved. In many cases, the cargo via Rotterdam arrives at its destination a few days earlier than that transported via the northern German ports. In addition to this, German companies also benefit from attractive Customs and tax advantages if they import and export via the Netherlands', according to ECT.
