Rotterdam, Inland Shippers Aim to Increase Efficiency

 
At the end of 2013, representatives of inland shipping operators, seaport terminals, depots, shipping companies, hinterland terminals, the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the Netherlands’ Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment will launch a trial aimed at reducing inefficiencies in inland container shipping.
The intiative, named NextLogic. will include allocating time slots for inland vessel handling at terminals and depots in the Port of Rotterdam, increasing the number of containers per call by bundling and measuring the performance of the supply chain and individual links.
