Kerry Logistics expands Laem Chabang terminal to tap automotive growth
KERRY Logistics, a global logistics service provider based in Hong Kong, has completed the expansion of its automotive Complete Built Units (CBU) facility at the Kerry Logistics Centre Laem Chabang to turn it into a major logistics hub for the automotive industry in Thailand.
The expansion has added 3,000-square-metres of warehouse space that has been tailor-made to accommodate the storage needs of a European luxury vehicle manufacturer. The new warehouse space has a capacity for 150 vehicles.
"The opening of the expanded facility at the centre means that we can now meet growing demand from our customer for quality storage space, top level service and security," said executive director for Thailand Kledchai Benjaathonsirikul.
The Kerry centre is located in the Chonburi Free Trade Zone and following its expansion the total floor area space has been raised to 20,000 square metres. Currently, 80 per cent of clients at the facility are from the automotive sector spanning from spare parts and tyres to finished vehicles.
