Nextlogic reduces inefficiencies in inland container shipping
In the future, inland vessels will be allocated time slots for handling at the terminals and depots in the port of Rotterdam, and the number of containers per call will be increased by bundling. In addition, the performance of the chain and individual links will be measured. These are the three pillars of Nextlogic, which is tackling the inefficiencies in inland container shipping, such as long waiting times and unpredictable schedules, with a port-wide, integrated solution. Better utilisation of the infrastructure also facilitates growth and contributes towards an increase in the use of inland shipping. Nextlogic is working towards a large-scale practical trial, which is due to start at the end of 2013.
