Dubai's Gulf Navigation-owned VLCC stopped at Rotterdam for loan default

A VLCC belonging to Dubai-based Gulf Navigation Holding has been stopped at Rotterdam after the company defaulted on its loan repayment, Gulf Navigation said in a statement released Monday.
 
The 2007-built Gulf Sheba was discharging its cargo at Rotterdam "when DNB, the agent of the lenders for the Gulf Sheba Corporation, issued notice of arresting the vessel at Rotterdam," Gulf Navigation said in a statement to the Dubai Financial Market, one of three stock exchanges in the UAE.

    Gulf Navigation旗下一艘本已挂牌出售的超大型油轮（VLCC）日前被DNB银行扣捕，致使该公司面临的困境更趋加深。
 
    该船东公司在一份声明中透露，因还贷违约，DNB银行已将其29.9万吨位的Gulf Sheba轮扣捕。
    
    这艘在鹿特丹被扣的2007年造VLCC目前价值为4180万美元。这比当时该公司以转售船购入时支付的1.1亿美元跌去一半不止。
   
    Gulf Navigation为出售该船已与潜在买家商讨数月，目前正就最新事态发展寻求其法律团队的意见。
