Long Beach terminal achieves record high box moves

Total Terminals International at the US west coast port of Long Beach in October completed 2,285 container moves over eight hours by working nine cranes against a vessel, which the company claims was a record for a North American port.

TTI was preparing for the future when vessels even larger than the 10,000-TEU Hanjin United Kingdom will start calling regularly at US ports.

However, chief operating officer Larry Bennett cautioned that the operator is not ready to make this level of productivity an everyday event, reported IHS Media.
